China, 1570. China is under the reign of the Longqing Emperor, of the Ming Dynasty. He inherited a country in disarray after years of mismanagement and corruption. He resided in the Forbidden city, which was the seat of many emperors under the Ming Dynasty. Constructed from 1406 to 1420, the complex consists of 980 buildings and covers 72 ha (over 180 acres). It is also under the Ming Dynasty that the Great Wall of China was rebuilt, fortified and expanded. Around this period, China was under heavy attack the Mongols, so maintaining the Great Wall was essential. Most of what we now have left of Great Wall, we owe to the Ming dynasty. The country was already famous for its very intricate bureaucracy, but this also led to a lot of corruption. Even though the penalties for corruption were very high, the highest Officials of the Forbidden City would pretend to uphold the ban on corruption, by accepting gifts of petitioners, and returning one of seemingly lower value. The Forbidden City uses this extraordinary custom as its basis. The players take on the role of powerful Chinese families trying to gain influence and power by exchanging gifts with Officials. The gift cards you offer as a player has to be of a higher value than the one you receive, forcing you to make strategic choices regarding which actions you want to take each turn. You will travel around China, Sail down the Grand Canal, purchase precious Jade, Help construct the Great Wall, secure advantages through decrees, influence the game through intrigue and ultimately, receive an audience with the emperor. If only 1 player succeeds in doing so, he wins. If several players succeed, the player with the most VPs among those players wins the game.

When the rest of the West was already won... the mountains remained unspoiled and deadly. The men and women who tamed this savage land were tough, lawless and, when necessary, as mean as the traps they carried. They lived by a private code of proud honor and swift justice. Burly, Isaac Beard was the living embodiment of that mountain code. To survive, he fought his way to a safe haven near Spirit Lake in the Colorado upcountry, forged an alliance with the untamed Ute Indians and made a place where generations of Beards resided in safety. ungekürzt. Izzy Young was a distinctive figure in the folk music and beatnik world. He set up the Folklore Center in New York's Greenwich Village, where Patti Smith, Emmylou Harris and Allen Ginsburg performed, and he produced Bob Dylan's first show in New York in the 1960s. In 1973, Izzy moved to Sweden, where he opened up a similar cultural centre. In Stockholm, the young Philomène and her father resided in the basement of the folklore centre, living a bohemian life, rich in culture and love. Thirty years later Izzy is fighting dementia. In a raw and unembellished manner, Philomène depicts the emotional rollercoaster of losing a beloved parent and a larger-than-life personality to an invisible, invincible foe. Interspersed are small moments of joy as the fog briefly parts to allow for a reconnection. Philomene masterfully intertwines the two timelines with a beautifully sparse language that vibrates with emotion. Don't Forget Me is a deeply personal book, yet the story itself is highly universal.
