Finding Mr. Brightside , Hörbuch, Digital, ungekürzt, 307min
Two funny, smart, but hopelessly lost teens find love at CVS. Abram and Juliette know each other. They've lived down the street from each other their whole lives. But they don't really know each other - at least not until Juliette's mom and Abram's dad have a torrid affair that culminates in a deadly car crash. Later, when they see each other, it's uncomfortable, to say the least. They don't speak. Fast forward to the neighborhood pharmacy, a few months later. Abram is on Paxil. Juliette is on Adderall. Abram decides to say hello. Then he decides to invite her to Taco Bell. To both of their surprise, she agrees. And the real love story begins. At turns poignant, funny, and insightful, this compelling novel proves that love can emerge from pain and ultimately triumph. ungekürzt. Language: English. Narrator: Cris Dukehart, Jesse Bernstein. In Bed with Susie Bright 404: Are Antidepressants Killing Your Orgasm?, Hörbuch, Digital, 29min, (USK 18)
Check out these numbers: nearly 190 million antidepressant prescriptions were dispensed in the United States last year, according to the National Institute for Mental Health. Antidepressants are put into groups based on which chemicals in the brain they affect. Susie discusses several antidepressants - including Celexa, Lexapro, Prozac, Paxil, and Zoloft - that are called Selective Serotonin Reuptake Inhibitors (SSRIs). Are you taking one of these? Susie looks at these drugs' sexual side effects, including loss of libido. That's not acceptable! Your orgasm is not a commodity that big pharmaceutical companies should have a financial hold on. Susie gets into some hot water for giving advice on these holy drugs. Don't mess with my mother's little helper seems to be the attitude. Susie is outraged! Then, in the "Try This at Home" mailbag, a listener shares his feelings about people who have sex in the face of death. That's right - it's relief in a time of grief. Have a question? You can call Susie's hotline at 831-480-5110. You can also send your confidential questions - plus requests for free samples and blog banners! - to susie@susiebright.com. The Illusion of Evidence-Based Medicine
An exposé of the corruption of medicine by the pharmaceutical industry at every level, from exploiting the vulnerable destitute for drug testing, through manipulation of research data, to disease mongering and promoting drugs that do more harm than good. Authors, Professor Jon Jureidini and Dr Leemon McHenry, made critical contributions to exposing the scientific misconduct in two infamous trials of antidepressants. Ghostwritten publications of these trials were highly influential in prescriptions of paroxetine (Paxil) and citalopram (Celexa) in paediatric and adolescent depression, yet both trials (Glaxo Smith Kline's paroxetine study 329 and Forest Laboratories' citalopram study CIT-MD-18) seriously misrepresented the efficacy and safety data. The Illusion of Evidence-Based Medicine provides a detailed account of these studies and argues that medicine desperately needs to re-evaluate its relationship with the pharmaceutical industry. Without a basis for independent evaluation of the results of randomised, placebo-controlled clinical trials, there can be no confidence in evidence-based medicine. Science demands rigorous, critical examination and especially severe testing of hypotheses to function properly, but this is exactly what is lacking in academic medicine.- Shop: buecher
