Rabbi Levi Yitzchak Schneerson, father of the Lubavitcher Rebbe, Rabbi Menachem M. Schneerson, of righteous memory, was a profound Torah scholar who served as the rabbi of the Ukrainian city of Yekaterinoslav (now Dnepropetrovsk). He is said to have composed thousands of pages of original Torah thoughts and discourses. The bulk of these writings are considered lost during the tumultuous years of WWII, and extant today are only those he penned on the margins of the few books he had during his final years, while in exile in Chi’ili, in far-off Kazakhstan. More than a decade after R. Levi Yitzchak’s passing in Alma-Ata in 1944, these writings were brought to the United States, where they reached his illustrious son, the Lubavitcher Rebbe. In the 1970s, they were published in five volumes under the titles of Likkutei Levi Yitzchak and Torat Levi Yitzchak, and the Rebbe began regularly expounding on these terse glosses at his public addresses.Comprising 16 essays, the present work was adapted by Rabbi Eli Block from R. Levi Yitzchak’s original works as well as from the Rebbe’s elucidations. ungekürzt. Language: English. Narrator: Shlomo Zacks. For legendary Talmud scholar and prolific author Rabbi Adin Even-Israel Steinsaltz, the Lubavitcher Rebbe embodied a lifelong mission to better the world. Far surpassing the role of teacher, Rabbi Menachem Mendel Schneerson was at once a scientific mind and faithful believer; educational innovator and social activist; spiritual guide and master network builder. My Rebbe is Rabbi Steinsaltz's long-awaited personal testament to the man whose passion and vision transformed Chabad-Lubavitch from a tiny group of Chassidim into an educational and spiritual movement that spans the globe. With the admiration of a close disciple, the astute observation of a scholar, and the spiritual depth of a mystic, Steinsaltz crafts an intimate portrait of a revolutionary religious leader whose dedication to intellectual, religious, and spiritual principles impacted generations of followers. Part biography, part memoir, part manual for great leadership, My Rebbe explores the evolution of Chabad's global success, its central beliefs and practices, the Rebbe's personal history, and his vision to inspire change. This moving narrative, written by one of today's most influential Jewish thinkers, will motivate listeners to contemplate their own mission in the world and aspire toward meaningful living. ungekürzt. Leadership is in crisis. In the rough seas of a borderless economy, the Internet, and outsourcing in turbulent markets, a seismic shift has changed the game. The days of the Great Man - whether a Churchill or Kennedy, even a Gates or Welch - are numbered. Virtually anyone can lead now, but how do you breed principled leaders for the 21st century? Is leadership a matter of DNA, culture, or coaching? The answer can be found in the 3,000-year-old tradition of Judaism. Jews are not called the People of the Book by accident. Torah, Talmud, and Kabbalah hold a powerful amalgam of life-and-death leadership stories and astonishingly practical lessons for 21st-century managers. In a unique synergy, Dr. Thomas Zweifel, Swiss Consulting Group CEO, Columbia professor, and author of leadership books like Communicate or Die and Culture Clash, teams up with Rabbi Aaron Raskin, Jewish leader, mensch, and author of Letters of Light, to blend the timeless wisdom of the Ten Commandments with a cutting-edge methodology based on 25 years of coaching leaders - a mix that provides winning tools for lasting success. ungekürzt. The Lubavitcher Rabbi's Memoirs are a veritable treasure chest of Chasidic learning and lore, of anecdotes, historical annotations and commemorations, and represent the very best of informal writing from the profile pen of the sixth leader of the Chabad-Lubavitch movement, Rabbi Yosef Y. Schneersohn, of blessed memory. Known and unknown figures from the past, scholars and cobblers, princes and dreamers, and giants of the spirit rise before our eyes to convey the message of inspiration, wholehearted devotion and all-out dedication that characterized Chasidic Jewish life in the small and large centers of Eastern Europe. In this audiobook, we follow closely behind a young man named Baruch, who would later become the father of Rabbi Schneur Zalman of Liadi, founder of the Chabad branch of Chasidism. Baruch, orphaned at a young age, wanders in search of a suitable manner in which to serve G-d. At times, we witness incidents that occur in Baruch's own life; at others, we join him in listening to captivating stories and historical episodes told to him by a variety of personalities. Both of these experiences serve as inspiration to young Baruch. Translated by Nissan Mindel. ungekürzt. Language: English. Narrator: Shlomo Zacks. Through our perception of sound and vibration, we internalize the world around us. What we hear and how we process that hearing has a profound impact on how we experience life. What we hear can empower us or harm us. A defining human capacity is to harness the power sound - through speech, dialogue, and song, and through listening to others. Hearing is a primary dimension of our existence. In fact, as a fetus, our ears were the first fully operating sensory organs to develop. This audiobook will guide you in methods of utilizing the power of sound and vibration to heal and maintain mental, emotional, and spiritual health, to fine-tune your midos and even to guide you into deeper levels of deveikus/conscious unity with Hashem. The vibratory patterns of the aleph-beis are particularly useful portals into our deeper conscious selves. Through chanting and deep listening, we can use the letters and sounds to shift our very mindset to induce us into a state of presence and spiritual elevation.Through the restoration of authentic Torah practices, Rav Pinson sheds new light onto these historical treasures and brings them into today's modern setting, providing us with real tools to transform our lives and connect with the Creator. ungekürzt. Schneerson, of sainted memory, embraced all issues of import to Jews, Jewish life, and beyond, spurring a Jewish revival that continues to gain momentum even after his passing. Through his incisive and illuminating Torah expositions, the Rebbe inspired an awareness of a attainable higher reality and sparked an enthusiasm for Torah study among scholars and layman alike. Welcome to the real America, a place you call home but don't yet know! The USA is the world's empire and its actions will influence us all for generations to come. But who are the Americans, the people who make up America? Tuvia Tenenbom travels through America to find out. His wanderings take him across regional frontiers, partisan lines, and socioeconomic boundaries in a fearless quest for the flesh-and-blood American. He visits black ghettos and white gated communities, megachurches and Indian reservations. He schmoozes with robbers who teach him the true meaning of love and meets Jews who dedicate day and night to hatred of their brethren. He finagles his way into a prison where skinheads pray, goes to the Senate - where no senator seems to be working - experiments with drugs on American streets, and ponders the deeper meaning of life with rednecks. He mingles with soldiers who teach him how to invade foreign countries and intellectuals who teach him the beautiful nature of Mother Earth, the goodness of man, and the sadism of the Israeli. The characters he encounters, the adventures he eagerly embraces, and the findings of his journey are always unique and often unexpected. ungekürzt. Language: English. Narrator: Shlomo Zacks. This biography uncovers the roots of the dedication and sacrifice that nurture the current Lubavitch movement. Rich with details, it provides perspective, inspiration, courage, and insight into the towering personality of Rabbi Levi Yitzchak Schneerson, Rabbi of Yekatrinoslav, Ukraine, father of the Lubavitcher Rebbe, Rabbi Menachem M. Schneerson. Whether it was defying the Communists, informers, or other radical social elements, Rabbi Levi Yitzchak stood in the breech at the risk of his life to keep Judaism vibrant and alive in the Soviet Union. Brimming with details documented only after the fall of communist Russia, the story heartbreakingly portrays the final years when Rabbi Levi Yitzchak was tortured and exiled to the remote village of Chi'ili, Kazakhstan, for "counterrevolutionary" activities. Under the most grueling living conditions, beset with hunger, sickness, and little hope of release, we see the portrait of the inner man - the man who lived each moment by the dictates of his soul and his faith in G-d. Aided by the indomitable spirit of his life-long partner, Rebbetzin Chana, Rabbi Levi Yiztchak was able to write his novel Torah insights with natural ink manufactured by the Rebbetzin from grass and herbs she gathered in the fields. Even under such brutal circumstances, exiles, refugees, and local people continued to flock to him. His advice, encouragement, and wisdom, revealed the noble soul of a spiritual giant. ungekürzt. What happens when a person recognizes that there is more to life than making money, travelling, and keeping busy? What happens when we realize - or simply sense - that there is more? The purpose of this book is to tackle these questions. Now what? Now that I know there is more, what should I do to get on the path of connecting to my soul and maximizing my eternal life without making radical changes and turning my whole life upside down? Since we build eternity with each second of our lives, part of the idea for this follow-up book was to delve into how our actions in this world affect our experience in the next world. The genesis of this book started with a single question to Rabbi. Kamenetsky that emerged as an outcome of reflecting on what we wrote in Afterlife, the Jewish View. I understood that learning about God is important. Learning His Torah is important. Following the mitzvos is important. But taking a step back and trying to see the big picture, I wanted to understand if there was a single thing that was most important to focus on. Specifically, I asked: What is the primary thing that builds our afterlives? This initial question led to another, then another, then to many more. I recorded these question-and-answer sessions, which formed the backbone of this book. ungekürzt. Language: English. Narrator: Shlomo Zacks.
