Joshua: The Old Testament 6, Hörbuch, Digital, 113min
After the death of Moses, God calls on Joshua to lead the Israelites across the Jordan River and take possession of the promised land. God guarantees victory in the military campaign and vows never to leave the Israelites so long as they obey his laws. The people swear their allegiance to Joshua, and he sends two spies across the river to investigate the territory. The men enter Jericho, where a prostitute named Rahab hides them in her home and lies to the city officials regarding the spies' presence. Rahab tells the spies that the Canaanites are afraid of Israel and its miraculous successes. Professing belief in the God of the Israelites, she asks for protection for her family when the Israelites destroy Jericho. The spies pledge to preserve Rahab and return to Joshua, telling him of the weakened condition of Israel's enemies. Correcting Non-Biblical and Supporting True Christian Doctrines , Hörbuch, Digital, ungekürzt, 90min
Bible study and especially deeper theology is far more vast than most people realize. People who teach from the Holy Scriptures can be very sincere but also sincerely wrong. This is error, rather than "false teaching" which always has an evil motive behind it, such as gleaning wealth from God's people, purposefully confusing them and claiming to be something they are not. This includes Prophets (some men really are Prophets), healers (this supernatural gift does operate today as God wills but some men use false chicanery), and the list goes on. So, in some cases, the Holy Bible is used for gain by "wolves in sheep's clothing" (Jesus - Matthew 7:15). Christians should be respectful and attentive to Word of God Ministers but they also should not place too much confidence in any man! The main thing is that ministers (including teachers like myself) should give congregates who come to listen to them spiritual food-for-thought that is backed solidly by the Holy Scriptures. By not double-checking things we are taught or given preached messages on, we can be led astray, whether the minister meant for such a thing to happen or not! So, meditate on God's Word and on the messages by ministers that are derived from them and ask the Holy Spirit to "guide you into all truth" (John 16:13). I ask this for you and for myself, in Jesus Christ's name, Amen! Following are this 12,890-word audiobook's contents: Chapter One: When Salvation in Jesus Christ Is Claimed to Be Earned Chapter Two: Jesus Will Appear in the Rapture Very Soon Chapter Three: God Leads Us with a Still Small Voice Chapter Four: Christians Take Caution When Doing Business with the World Chapter Five: Sin of Narcissism Among Professing Christians Chapter Six: Bizarre Instructions by Christian Ministers Can Bring Church Ridicule Chapter Seven: Imperfect Witnesses and Ministers for Jesus Will Not Los ungekürzt. Hell Under Fire: Modern Scholarship Reinvents Eternal Punishment , Hörbuch, Digital, ungekürzt, 686min
Of all the teachings of Christianity, the doctrine of hell is easily the most troubling, so much so that in recent years the church has been quietly tucking it away. Rarely mentioned anymore in the pulpit, it has faded through disuse among evangelicals and been attacked by liberal theologians. Hell is no longer only the target of those outside the church. Today, a disturbing number of professing Christians question it as well. Perhaps more than at any other time in history, hell is under fire. The implications of the historic view of hell make the popular alternatives, annihilationism and universalism, seem extremely appealing. But the bottom line is still God's Word. What does the Old Testament reveal about hell? What does Paul the apostle have to say, or the book of Revelation? Most important, what does Jesus, the ultimate expression of God's love, teach us about God's wrath? Upholding the authority of Scripture, the different authors in Hell Under Fire explore a complex topic from various angles. R. Albert Mohler Jr. provides a historical, theological, and cultural overview of 'The Disappearance of Hell.' Christopher Morgan draws on the New Testament to offer three pictures of hell as punishment, destruction, and banishment. J. I. Packer compares universalism with the traditional understanding of hell, Morgan does the same with annihilationism, and Sinclair Ferguson considers how the reality of hell ought to influence preaching. These examples offer some idea of this volume's scope and thoroughness.Hell may be under fire, but its own flames cannot be quenched by popular opinion. This book helps us gain a biblical perspective on what hell is and why we cannot afford to ignore it. And it offers us a better understanding of the One who longs for all people to escape judgment and obtain eternal life through Jesus Christ. ungekürzt. Language: English. Narrator: Tom Parks. William Lloyd Garrison and Horace Greeley: The Lives and Careers of the Civil War Era’s Most Famous Publishers , Hörbuch, Digital, ungekürzt, 194min
“I cherish as strong a love for the land of my nativity as any man living. I am proud of her civil, political and religious institutions...But I have some solemn accusations to bring against her. I accuse her of insulting the majesty of Heaven with the grossest mockery that was ever exhibited to man - inasmuch as, professing to be the land of the free and the asylum of the oppressed, she falsifies every profession, and shamelessly plays the tyrant.” -William Lloyd Garrison “Journalism will kill you, but it will keep you alive while you're at it.” -Horace Greeley Nearly a century after the first unified resistance against the British, strife over slavery widened to the point of civil war, and the condition of slaves in America was in several aspects worse than at any time during the 18th century. As the nation tried to sort out its most intractable political issue, politicians and advocates on each side of the divide became increasingly more passionate, and vocal. The dam would burst completely after Abraham Lincoln’s election in 1860, and the refusal of Northern states to strictly apply the new fugitive slave law would be explicitly cited in several of the Southern states’ articles of secession in late 1860 and early 1861. By April 1861, the Civil War had broken out. Well before Lincoln and the “Black Republicans” were cited by secessionist firebrands looking to justify their stances, one of the men they most bitterly opposed was abolitionist editor William Lloyd Garrison. While many began their adult lives with very strident views and then mellowed over time, he did just the opposite. Raised by a pious single mother, he embraced the general teachings of the Christian faith as a young man, and in his twenties, he became convicted that slavery was the greatest moral evil in the nation. Thereafter, he devoted most of his life to seeing it ended, and he refused to give an inch in the name of compromise on the things he felt strongly about. ungekürzt. Language: English. The Dickens Mirror , Hörbuch, Digital, ungekürzt, 1064min
Critically acclaimed author of The Ashes Trilogy, Ilsa J. Bick takes her new Dark Passages series to an alternative Victorian London where Emma Lindsay continues to wade through blurred realities now that she has lost everything: her way, her reality, her friends. In this London Emma will find alternative versions of her friends from the White Space and even Arthur Conan Doyle. Emma Lindsay finds herself with nowhere to go, no place to call home. Her friends are dead. Eric, the perfect boy she wrote into being, and his brother, Casey, are lost to the Dark Passages. With no way of knowing where she belongs, she commands the cynosure, a beacon and lens that allows for safe passage between the Many Worlds, to put her where she might find her friends--find Eric--again. What she never anticipated was waking up in the body of Little Lizzie, all grown up--or that in this alternative London, Elizabeth McDermott is mad. In this London Tony and Rima are "rats"--teens who gather the dead to be used for fuel. Their friend, Bode, is an attendant at Bedlam, where Elizabeth has been committed after being rescued by Arthur Conan Doyle, a drug-addicted constable. Tormented by the voices of all the many characters based on her, all Elizabeth wants is to get rid of the pieces under her skin once and for all. While professing to treat Elizabeth, her physician, Dr. Kramer, has actually drugged her to allow Emma, who's blinked to this London before, to emerge as the dominant personality...because Kramer has plans. Elizabeth is the key to finding and accessing the Dickens Mirror. But Elizabeth is dying, and if Emma can't find a way out, everyone as they exist in this London, as well as the 12-year-old version of herself and the shadows--what remains of Eric, Casey, and Rima that she pulled with her from the Dark Passages--will die with her. ungekürzt. Friendzone: How You Can Break Through the Friendzone , Hörbuch, Digital, ungekürzt, 31min
This book contains proven steps and strategies on how to successfully break through one of the most notorious places on the planet - the friend zone. Here you will discover that the process of finding your way out of the friend zone is both a science and an art. A science because it requires careful and guided manipulation of the already present tangible factors of a relationship - and an art because even though the common goal is to become more than a friend to a certain special someone, anyone who wishes to achieve the goal has to be creative and artistic in handling the process. Every person is different. Every friendship is different. The probability of success will largely depend on the critical and creative thinking capacities of the one who wants out of the friend zone. This book simply aims to aid people with both fields of thought - the creative and the analytic part. By the end of the last chapter, I guarantee that the formerly impossible task of going out of the friend zone will not seem as unattainable as before. Here is a preview of what this book will help you with: In Chapter One, you will learn why it is of utmost importance to think hard and well whether or not you should push through the plan of going out of the friend zone. In Chapter Two, you will learn about the two primary ingredients of a relationship - chemistry and timing. In Chapter Three there is a test of how much you know about the person you wish to go to the next level with, and a step-by-step process of the whole trick on how to get out of the friend zone. Chapter Four teaches how to build a new, better, and more romantic version of yourself based on the truths established on the preceding chapters.
