Your relationship with your partner, and all your relationships (boss, parents, friends) started when you were in fourth grade, since all the uncomfortable, emotional reactions being stirred in you today were formed unconsciously in the world of your youth.  All that was joyous and unlived, unfulfilled, and unresolved within your parents and ancestors were deposited electromagnetically downstream in you. But your adult self is afraid of this inner kingdom of experiences. So you blame your spouse, boss, friends, kids, and everything else for how you feel and all the challenges you face.   This is why relationships fail! I call it half-syndrome. Your adult attention is oblivious to this other half of yourself. As Robert Monroe reminds us in Far Journey, “We are only partially successful using an incorrect standard of measurement."Your spouse is just waking up these old bioelectric reaction-patterns stored in your limbic warehouse. Meanwhile, all the answers to the test, everything you need to know to make your marriage work, is stored in the language and intelligence of these old feelings. That is why the work on your relationship has nothing to do with your partner; it is about you.  Allow the friction in the arena of marriage become the mechanism for you to wake up, grow up, and fully complete your life.  Stand in the fire of your anger and joy, and enter the roar of silence by sitting quietly alone to unlock those old feelings. Marriage and meditation are the same thing: Both are designed to break you open, unlock the experience of vulnerability, and change you forever. ungekürzt. Language: English. Most people only ever rely on their conventional intelligence (IQ) to get them through life, or worse, believe it to be the best indicator for success. For years this was thought to be the case, that IQ was the most accurate predictor of a person's potential, whether it's getting a leg up in your career or simply building better relationships in business/family life. However that is no longer the case. It's now commonly known that Emotional Intelligence (EQ) has the biggest impact here. But most people aren't equipped with the internal and external emotional assessment tools to really get ahead. Katherine Chambers is an ex-Stanford psychologist who specializes in all forms neuroscientific and psychotherapy subjects. However it wasn't until she left college life and entered the 'real world' that she started to understand these theoretical topics in a practical sense. Over the past 15 years she has built a multi-six figure consulting business and a family of her own. But there is one element she attributes a large part of this success to: developing high EQ. In this insightful and functional book, Chambers gives listeners a firsthand look into the scientific subjects she studied within academia as well as a practical real life guide on how to: Understand Daniel Goleman's framework for EQ Know why you react the way you do - living out our limbic legacy Take stock of your internal emotional state Learn to differentiate between the "feeler" and the "thinker" within you Develop behavioral strategies for high external EQ - for relationships and social settings Specific techniques for building situational empathy and rapport The power of being nonjudgmental towards yourself and others And much more ungekürzt. How much of our ancestral legacy do we still hold onto? The answer is certainly a substantial amount, and that is largely due to our limbic system or our “old mammalian brain”. Regardless of how much we have developed as individuals or civilization and society have, in general, we still cannot fully escape the influence these primitive brain structures have over us. However, we still learn a lot from our environment.Larger, more conscious movements and mannerisms of the limbs can be culturally rooted. That is why it’s important to assess the contextual cues, first and foremost. This starts with assessing the cues which are likely to trigger certain behavioral traits. These can be both external and internal, but will always be the subsequent driver of the proceeding behavior.  The next thing to watch out for are the changes - the sequences of signals which allow you to pick up on mood more easily. Large shifts in body language displays will almost always occur in clusters or in a grouping of mannerisms, allowing you to much more reliably pick up on these changes when they occur. The fourth consideration is regarding the character and culture of the individual or group of people you are assessing. As I mention, the subconscious cues are almost always the same within everyone, but the larger and more overt body movements and gestures can be very much interpersonal, depending on somebody’s upbringing and background. Try to assess for their baseline behavior and adjust your thinking either way.  Context can play a huge role in accurately assessing the momentary behavior of others, and credence should certainly be given to the situational settings you find yourself in. Discount any contextual etiquette within formal and business settings, for instance. These factors shouldn’t be the only lens by which you are assessing somebody’s intention with regards to their body language, but considerations that would be wise to take on board, nonethele ungekürzt. Narcissism is an overwhelming and confusing topic. But when you reveal its mask, you see that it is basically a lie, told to those who are vulnerable. Narcissistic abuse, by nature, is designed to keep you trapped in shame-based vertigo. It doesn't just go away because you know it exists. Narcissism creates a set of beliefs, behaviours and paradigms in its target which must be changed from the inside. 'How To Kill A Narcissist' is a book with two aims: 1. To reveal the rotten core of the narcissistic personality so you can see it clearly 2. To present you with an inside-out strategy for healing, recovery and freedom Whether you are dealing with narcissistic parents, husbands, wives, friends, bosses or colleagues, the same philosophy will apply. After reading 'How To Kill A Narcissist', you will: - Become aware of the damage narcissistic abuse has done to your psyche and how to heal it - See how the narcissist uses shame as a weapon to fool you into feeling inferior - Understand the playing field which narcissists thrive on and how to stop playing their game - Learn how the narcissist uses mind control to break down and rebuild your identity for the purpose of subjugation - Gain tools for disarming a narcissist i.e. starving them of their narcissistic supply - Have taken a closer look behind the veil of narcissistic personality disorder 'How To Kill A Narcissist' takes an enlightening look at the dynamic between a narcissist and their target. It takes you on a deep journey and describes: - How we unwittingly qualify as targets of narcissists - The shame/grandiosity continuum and how the narcissist uses it to crush your self-esteem - The law of grandiosity and how it influences our relationships with the self-absorbed - The effect that narcissism has on its target including: toxic shame, a dissociated mind and a weakened ego - The obstacles which keep you trapped in a cycle of narcissistic abuse: the psychological cage, love starvation, low shame tolerance, guilt and conditioning to shamelessness Using an inside-out approach, 'How To Kill A Narcissist' presents the seven practices for recovery and healing: 1. Get allies: Boost self-esteem through limbic resonance 2. Give shape to your true self: Uncover disowned parts of the self and restore wholeness 3. Skill up: Empower yourself 4. Flex your muscles: Challenge the psychological cage and come out of hiding 5. Even the scale: Restore balance to your relationships 6. Boundaries: Foster a strong sense of self and firmly protect it 7. Scorched earth: Disengage from those who wish to manipulate you Each practice is designed to instil you with independence, strength, emotional resilience and awareness while allowing you to cultivate balanced, loving relationships and pursue a life of passion. This is the art of killing a narcissist.
