Political Platonism (eBook, ePUB)
Alexander Dugin's Political Platonism offers a seminal analysis of the contemporary philosophical crisis from one of the best-known writers and political commentators in post-Soviet Russia. Through a series of essays, course transcripts, and a single long interview-each remarkable for the depth of its learning and the boldness of its vision-Dugin exposes the profoundest roots of the Western philosophical tradition, offering his view of why it has reached its final terminus, and his indication of where a new beginning must be sought. The works collected in this volume present Dugin's theory of Political Platonism as a fundamental philosophical and political orientation, capable at once of reviving higher political and social forms and furnishing solid ground for resistance to the collapse of the contemporary world. His multi-perspective thesis offers a thorough and thought-provoking critique of modernity and a masterful survey of Western philosophy, reaching from before Heraclitus to beyond Heidegger. In its provocative, clear-sighted analyses and its visionary flights, this book provides an invaluable reference for those already familiar with Dugin, and an intriguing introduction for those coming to him for the first time.- Shop: buecher

Stoicism: How the Philosophy of the Stoics Works, Understanding and Practicing Stoicism, Learn the Art of Happiness and How to Manage Your Emotions , Hörbuch, Digital, ungekürzt, 292min
What is Stoicism? Stoicism is called the philosophical doctrine that practiced mastery of the passions that disturb life using virtue and reason; as such, its purpose was to achieve happiness and wisdom regardless of comfort, material goods, and fortune. Hence, it also designates a certain moral attitude related to strength and equanimity in character. The ideal of the Stoics was to achieve imperturbability and some degree of independence from the outside world. Although it was a fundamentally ethical doctrine, it also had its own logical and physical conceptions. It was influenced by cynics and Heraclitus. The Stoic school was founded by Zenón de Citio around 301 BC in Athens. They used to meet in a portico of the city, from which it derived its name, which comes from the Greek (Stoikós), derived from στοά (stoá), which means "porch". It was one of the most influential Hellenic philosophical schools. Its boom period is recorded between the third century BC and second century AD. Its weakening coincided with the rise of Christianity. In the Stoic doctrine, three phases are recognized: a first, headed by Zeno and Chrysippus, called ancient Stoicism; the second, characterized by the contributions of Panecio and Posidonio, is known as middle Stoicism, and finally, there is new Stoicism, represented by figures such as Seneca , Epícteto, and Marco Aurelio. ungekürzt. Soul of Goodness
Christopher Phillips has devoted his life to carrying the torch of Socrates and his quest to "Know Thyself.? Yet upon the death of his beloved father and mentor, the originator of the burgeoning global Socrates Café movement had little choice but to confront the inescapable truth: that there are some things we cannot know for sure. This moving, insightful and ultimately hopeful and helpful blend of memoir and philosophical exploration begins in Phillips' native stomping grounds of the tiny volcanic island of Nisyros, Greece and unfurls through space and time as the author explores the connections between his immediate circumstances and the eternal wisdom of popular philosophers. -In this personal and probing book, the acclaimed ?philosopher for the people' shares lessons gleaned from his intimate and often unexpected encounters with uncommonly perceptive human beings both living and long deceased, in the form of weary travelers and some of history's greatest thinkers, from Heraclitus to Dr. Cornel West. Along the way, he charts a pathway for sculpting what Shakespeare describes as a "soul of goodness,? which meshes with Plato's paradigm-shattering conception of the "healthiness of soul.? For those struggling to overcome the hopelessness that can result from grievous loss, setback, or betrayal - what Phillips' touchstone Percy Blythe Shelley calls life circumstances "darker than death or night? - the author spotlights, with philosophical prescriptions both timely and timeless, how to cultivate a ?Socratic spirit' that leads to renewed love, forbearance, and hope at the other end of the tunnel.- Shop: buecher
