Anna Crestwood was raised in the strict beliefs of a religious sect that’s nestled in the foothills of the Smoky Mountains. She’s a lesbian with a ton of baggage, fearful, guilty, and alone. Few things would cause her to leave these familiar surroundings, the job offer of a lifetime being one of them. So, against her better judgment, she packs her belongings and moves to the Land of Lincoln, a land without mountains, a land of corn fields, and soybeans. This event, traumatic as it was, would have been uneventful had her movers not been told to move a critical stone, a stone that blocked the fiery-breath of Hell, setting a dire chain of events in motion, and beginning the ultimate battle between good and evil. Gabe Garst is a police officer, a powerful medium, and the daughter of Anna’s new landlord. Her work with juvenile delinquents and ghosts is all that keeps her going. Inside she’s dead, certain that her capacity to love is buried with her late wife, six feet under. Grieving, depressed, and alone, suicide seems like her best option. When she stops by Anna’s to check out an electrical problem, she stumbles across hauntings; encounters a demon, old, dark, and dangerous; and senses the stirrings of mutual attraction. Unfortunately, both women must battle personal demons before anything can come of it. And, they’ll wait almost too long.  ungekürzt. Language: English. Narrator: Emily Beresford. Some suggest that you should invest your pension in gold and a basket of other commodities and look forward to a prosperous retirement. The others are full of complex statistics that are impenetrable to most people. This book is different. Packed with real-life examples and quotations from key thinkers and market players Commodities: 50 Things You Really Need to Know is a lively and relevant exploration of how commodities and commodity markets influences every aspect of our lives.Peter Sainsbury is also the author of Crude Forecasts: Predictions, Pundits and Profits in the Commodity Casino and The Winning Formula: Betting on F1. ungekürzt. How we can transform the global food system by changing what's on our dinner plates. The implausible truth: Over one billion people in the world are hungry and over one billion are overweight. Far from complete opposites, hunger and obesity are in fact different manifestations of the same problem: It's increasingly difficult to find and eat nutritious food. By examining the global industrial food system using the deceptively simple template of a classic American dinner, We the Eaters not only outlines the root causes for this bizarre and troubling dichotomy, but also provides a blueprint of actionable solutions - solutions that could start with changing out just a single item on your plate. From your burger to your soda, Gustafson unpacks how even the hyper-local can cause worldwide ripples. For instance: American agricultural policy promoting corn and soybeans in beef farming means we feed more to cows than to hungry people. This is compounded by the environmental cost of factory livestock farming, rising obesity rates, and the false economics of unhealthily high meat consumption. The answer? Eat a hamburger; just make it a smaller, sustainably raised, grass-fed one. Gustafson - a young entrepreneur, foreign policy expert, and food policy advocate - delivers a wake-up call that will inspire even the most passive listener to take action. We can love our food and our country while being better stewards of our system and our health. We the Eaters is nothing short of a manifesto: If we change dinner, we can change the world. ungekürzt. Jeff Regan, Investigator came to CBS Radio on July 10, 1948, with Jeff Regan as a tough private eye working for a detective agency run by Anthony J. Lyon. Regan introduced himself on each show with: "I get 10 a day and expenses. They call me the Lyon's Eye." Lyon, portrayed by Wilms Herbert, ran the International Detective Bureau, a small private investigations firm in downtown Los Angeles, with often oversized ambitions. Regan handled rough assignments from Lyon, with whom he was not always on good terms. Actor Jack Webb played Regan as tough and tenacious, with a dry sense of humor. The series ended when Webb left the show in December 1948, but was resurrected in October 1949 with a new cast. Frank Graham starred as Jeff Regan, and Frank Nelson portrayed his boss, Anthony J. Lyon. This version lasted until August of 1950.
