Learning Leadership: The Five Fundamentals of Becoming an Exemplary Leader , Hörbuch, Digital, ungekürzt, 403min
From the best-selling authors of The Leadership Challenge and over a dozen award-winning leadership books, James M. Kouzes and Barry Z. Posner have written a new book that examines a fundamental question: How do people learn leadership? How do they learn to become leaders? Learning Leadership: The Five Fundamentals of Becoming an Exemplary Leader is a comprehensive guide to unleashing the inner-leader in us all and to building a solid foundation for a lifetime of leadership growth and mastery. The book offers a concrete framework to help individuals of all levels, functions, and backgrounds take charge of their own leadership development and become the best leaders they can be. Arguing that all individuals are born with the capacity to lead, Kouzes and Posner provide listeners with a practical series of actions and specific coaching tips for harnessing that capacity and creating a context in which they can excel. Supported by over 30 years of research, from over 70 countries, and with examples from real-world leaders, Learning Leadership is a clarion call to unleash the leadership potential that is already present in today's society. According to Kouzes and Posner, "Leadership makes a significant difference in levels of engagement and commitment and is perhaps the most important asset in every organization, yet recent research points to a shortage of leaders. It is a serious global concern. The world needs more exemplary leaders in order to promote high-performing workplaces and inspire feelings of greater self-worth and meaningfulness. The shortage, however, is not because of the lack of potential talent. The people are out there, the eagerness is out there, and the capability is out there. The shortage results from prevailing myths - myths about talent, strengths, position, self-reliance, and effort - that inhibit the vast majority of leaders from shining and organizations from realizing the full benefits of the talent the ungekürzt. I and Thou , Hörbuch, Digital, ungekürzt, 318min
Martin Buber’s I and Thou has long been acclaimed as a classic. Many prominent writers have acknowledged its influence on their work; students of intellectual history consider it a landmark; and the generation born after World War II considers Buber one of its prophets. Buber’s main proposition is that we may address existence in two ways: (1) that of the “I” toward an “It,” toward an object that is separate in itself, which we either use or experience; (2) that of the “I” toward “Thou,” in which we move into existence in a relationship without bounds. One of the major themes of the book is that human life finds its meaningfulness in relationships. All of our relationships, Buber contends, bring us ultimately into relationship with God, who is the Eternal Thou. The need for a new English translation had been felt for many years. The old version was marred by many inaccuracies and misunderstandings, and its recurrent use of the archaic “thou” was seriously misleading. Professor Walter Kaufmann, a distinguished writer and philosopher in his own right who was close to Buber, retranslated the work at the request of Buber’s family. He added a wealth of informative footnotes to clarify obscurities and bring the reader closer to the original and wrote an extensive prologue that opened up new perspectives on the book and on Buber’s thought. This volume provided a new basis for all subsequent discussions of Buber. Martin Buber (1878–1965) was a Jewish philosopher, theologian, Bible translator, and editor of Hasidic tradition. He was also known as one of the paramount spiritual leaders of the twentieth century and is best known as the author of I and Thou - the basic formulation of his philosophy of dialogue - and for his appreciation of Hasidism, which made a deep impact on Christian as well as Jewish thinkers. Fleeing Nazi Germany in 1938, he immigrated to Israel, where he taught social philosophy at the Hebrew University. ungekürzt. Language: English. Narrator: John Lescault. The Audacity to Be You: Learning to Love Your Horrible, Rotten Self , Hörbuch, Digital, ungekürzt, 514min
Expanding on his first book The Journey of the Heroic Parent, Reedy talks about how all our relationships are connected to the relationship we have with ourselves. He shows how the foundation for intimacy with partners, our ability to parent effectively, and the meaningfulness of our lives can be tied to how well we have unraveled our unique childhood history. The Audacity to Be You: Learning to Love Your Horrible, Rotten, Self is a simple but bold exploration into what makes us human and why happiness and connection are elusive for so many. Reedy's work is counterintuitive, but the listener will often have the experience of being found and understood as they make their way through his work. Many people say that reading/listening to Brad's work is like you are hearing something for the first time that you already knew but just didn't have the words for it. Dr. Reedy is a renowned author, therapist, podcaster, and public speaker, and his approach is accessible and nonthreatening. He is a prolific keynote speaker, TV and radio guest, and he travels the world presenting to audiences and training therapists. Through stories gathered from decades as a therapist, cofounder, and clinical director of Evoke Therapy Programs, Reedy gives the listener an intimate picture of mental health and healing. The Audacity to Be You explains how our personalities are built, brick by brick. From what it means to be oneself, we learn how to authentically love others. Listeners will learn the essence of mental health, and with that understanding, the stigma of mental illness evaporates. Reedy debunks toxic myths so common in our culture, including “You are only as happy as your least happy child,” and how good therapy goes beyond problem-solving. Reedy teaches, “In this way of thinking, you don't get to be right anymore. But you get to be a "self". And that is so much better. That is "the audacity to be you".To learn more about his work ungekürzt. Language: English. Narrator: Brad M. Reedy, PhD.
