Am Ort war nur ein kleiner Junge, der fasziniert von der Farbe, sofort die für ihn unheimliche Spritze einsteckt. 13 Jahre später Dr. West sitzt immer noch im Gefängnis, lässt sich aber nicht von seinen Experimenten abhalten. Seine Opfer: Ratten. Er ist sich sicher jetzt das endgültige Zusatzmittel zu seiner bisherigen Rezeptur gefunden zu haben: Das Nanoplasma scheint die Wiederbelebten willenlose Zombies wieder ihren ursprüngliche Persönlichkeit zurückzugeben. Der kleine Junge ist mittlerweile erwachsen und Arzt geworden. Immer noch beeindruckt von Wests Mittel lässt er sich als Gefängnisarzt in die Anstalt von Herbert West versetzen. Wieder im Besitz seines geliebten neongelben Mittelchen beginnt West von neuem Menschen wiederzubeleben doch auch sein scheinbar narrensicheres Nanoplasma scheint Nebenwirkungen zu haben und da ist auch noch dieser gewaltige Insassenaufstand. Die beiden Katastrophen nehmen Kurs aufeinander um sich im ultimativen Desaster zu entladen.
