Since the 1970s, FantasticLand has been the theme park where "Fun is Guaranteed!" But when a hurricane ravages the Florida coast and isolates the park, the employees find it anything but fun. Five weeks later, the authorities who rescue the survivors encounter a scene of horror. Photos soon emerge online of heads on spikes outside of rides and viscera and human bones littering the gift shops, breaking records for hits, views, likes, clicks, and shares. How could a group of survivors, mostly teenagers, commit such terrible acts? Presented as a fact-finding investigation and a series of first-person interviews, FantasticLand pieces together the grisly series of events. Park policy was that the mostly college-aged employees surrender their electronic devices to preserve the authenticity of the FantasticLand experience. Cut off from the world and left on their own, the teenagers soon form rival tribes who viciously compete for food, medicine, social dominance, and even human flesh. This new social network divides the ravaged dreamland into territories ruled by the Pirates, the ShopGirls, the Freaks, and the Mole People. If meticulously curated online personas can replace private identities, what takes over when those constructs are lost? FantasticLand is a modern take on Lord of the Flies meets Battle Royale that probes the consequences of a social civilization built online. ungekürzt. Language: English. The boys are back in town... Ten years ago, Kaelin Daume spent a steamy summer home from college secretly hanging out with town bad boy Tyler Wirth and his best friend Nick Kernsted. The connection was warm, complicated, and came to a crashing end when she walked in on her two forbidden friends with another woman. The shocking scene of sex and bondage has haunted her boring, oh-so-vanilla life ever since. The fallout from that night tore Tyler's life apart. He left Mapleglen, disowned and disgraced, to build a successful advertising career and a unique relationship with Nick. Nothing could bring him back except his sister's wedding, and he plans to hightail it back to Chicago as soon as it's over. At least one good thing hasn't changed: Kaelin is as sweet as ever. Except she doesn't seem too thrilled to hear it. As tensions run high, Kaelin can't resist the temptation to commit one crazy act of rebellion. Once the web of secrets, sins, and lies starts to unravel, though, their lives will never be the same... Warning: This audiobook contains a nice girl who gets her naughty on with two hot men. A bad boy, a good girl, and ice cream collide in the best little wedding town in America! Dahlia Mallard has finally found her destiny - running an ice cream shop in Bliss, the happiest bridal town in the Midwest. Problem is, her heart is bigger than her bank account, and she needs a serious influx of cash to get through the winter. Her last-ditch effort? Convincing country music superstar Billy Brenton to commit to attending her risqué flavor-tasting event to boost ticket sales. But the closest she can get to Billy is his drummer, the womanizing Mikey Diamond. Mikey loves the ladies, and he makes no secret of it. But he's not such a fan of this town devoted to weddings, love, and marriage. And he's even less of a fan of people using him to get to Billy. When circumstances land Mikey in Dahlia's house, though, all his caution - and all his interest in any other single ladies - flies out the window. Twenty-five years after Richard Ramirez left 13 dead, paralysing the city of Los Angeles, his name is still synonymous with fear, torture, and sadistic murder. Philip Carlo's US best seller The Night Stalker, based on three years of meticulous research and extensive interviews with Ramirez, reveals the killer and his horrifying crimes to be even more chilling than anyone could have imagined. From watching his cousin commit murder at age 11 to his 19 death sentences to the juror who fell in love with him, the story of Ramirez is a bizarre and spellbinding descent into the very heart of human evil. Incredibly, after The Night Stalker was first published, thousands of women from all over the world started to contact Carlo, begging to be put in touch with the killer. Carlo began to interview them and, in this compelling new edition, presents their disturbing stories and the dark sexual desires that would drive them towards a brutal murderer. Also, in an exclusive death-row interview, the killer himself gives his thoughts on the 'Ramirez Groupies' - and what he thinks they really want. Philip Carlo was the author of the international best seller The Ice Man, as well as The Night Stalker, Gaspipe, and The Killer Within. He lived in New York until his death in November 2010. ungekürzt. Language: English. Narrator: Jeff Harding. Audio sample: https://samples.audible.de/bk/adbl/015694/bk_adbl_015694_sample.mp3.
