Bram Stoker, despite having a name nearly as famous as his legendary undead count, has remained a puzzling enigma. Now, in this psychological and cultural portrait, David J. Skal exhumes the inner world and strange genius of the writer who conjured an undying cultural icon. Stoker was inexplicably paralyzed as a boy, and his story unfolds against a backdrop of Victorian medical mysteries and horrors: cholera and famine fever, childhood opium abuse, frantic bloodletting, mesmeric quack cures, and the gnawing obsession with "bad blood" that informs every page of Dracula. Stoker's ambiguous sexuality is explored through his lifelong acquaintance and romantic rival, Oscar Wilde, who emerges as Stoker's repressed shadow side - a doppelganger worthy of a Gothic novel. The psychosexual dimensions of Stoker's passionate youthful correspondence with Walt Whitman, his punishing work ethic, and his slavish adoration of the actor Sir Henry Irving are examined in splendidly Gothic detail. ungekürzt. Don't get any on you. When Comet Press put out the call for submissions for Stiff Things, we said we were ready to ratchet up the eroticism and visceral intensity with hardcore stories that penetrate new depths of psychosexual horror. But we weren't as ready as we thought we were for the extreme stuff that came flooding in on waves of blood and other bodily fluids we won't mention here. Not that we're complaining. In other words, we got what we wished for...and more. So much more that calling it an anthology of erotic horror was no longer strong enough. The stories themselves dictated a new title. And so here are the stories for this upcoming release with a more apt title: Stiff Things: The Splatterporn Anthology Modern Celebrity, by Brandon Ford Suckers, by Cori Vidae and Brian Rosenberger One Ear, Always to the Land of the Dead, by Olive Whittier Godf---ed, by Tanker Ray The Solution, by Kristopher Triana Hunter's Moon, by S.C. Hayden If My Face Were Transparent, You'd See the Devil, by Eric LaRocca Charlotte the Harlot, by Shequila Rayne The Penis of the Marquis de Sade, by Andrew Darlington The Extra Mile, by Paul Allih ungekürzt. Codependence: Coping with Addiction, Sadism and Abuse is based on a white paper the author drafted for a drug rehabilitation center in the United States. The study is basically divided in three parts, dealing with different manifestations of parent-child codependence and the resulting lacking autonomy and self-reliance of the later adolescent and young adult, who, as a result of his early entanglement with a parent, gets into a negative growth spiral by a rather queer sexual development (sadism), and dependency patterns in all spheres of life.Addiction, sadism, and abuse are all power traps, and inhibit the young adult from developing his full soul power and charisma. They have all one etiology: the fact of a prolonged codependent relationship with one parent, while the other parent was either absent, irresponsible, or unacceptable. For reasons of the different psychosexual setup of the two sexes, the problem occurs more regularly with boys who are codependent with their mothers and who at the onset of adulthood - or even during adolescence - are suffering from more or less violent sexual urges, and substance abuse and dependency, as well as the scars of emotional abuse, often committed by mothers who ask their male offspring to cling to them as long as possible, and avoid getting into sexual relations with girls of their age, for dating, or more mature women for serious relations and marriage. It is then regularly the mother who is in the way for the boy to develop a life of his own. When that boy was an infant, the mother had all possible pretexts to not live the primary fusional relation with the newborn, thereby causing the psychic and emotional scars that later lead to the codependent relationship. The essay is understood as a self-help guide for those who wish to get ready to face their dependency pattern as a preparation for qualified psychiatric and psychosocial assistance as a second step. ungekürzt. After spending her girlhood writing gentle and thoughtful novels of the lesbian experience (Shadows, Warm and Willing, Enough of Sorrow), Jill Emerson reinvented herself in the early 1970s, just when contemporary literature was experiencing an enormous flowering of sexuality.Even as the whole culture rocked with the sexual revolution, popular fiction echoed this change with a flinging off of censorship and a surge of sexual candor. Jill wrote three books for Berkley. The first, Thirty, was in the form of a diary, piling incident upon incident as the diarist, a woman in her 30th year, fled her safe suburban marriage and went off in search of her real self. The second, Threesome, took the form of a collaborative novel in which the three participants in a menage a trois write a book together to chronicle their own experience - an experience that continues to evolve as each reads what the others have written. The third, A Madwoman's Diary, you won’t be surprised to learn, is a return to the diary form. Once again, the diarist is a young woman seeking a richer and more fulfilling life in and out of bed. But the book owes its story line to more than Jill Emerson’s imagination. Interestingly enough, it grows out of a psychosexual case history previously reported by John Warren Wells. Jill, having read JWW’s book in manuscript, couldn’t get one particular case out of her head, and thought it a perfect springboard for fiction. And the next thing she knew she was typing away, entirely caught up in the woman’s story as it spooled itself out of her typewriter.Wells was unlikely to object. He and Jill, always friends, occasionally lovers, were comfortable sharing their work, and not infrequently would dedicate their books to each other. And even if JWW found Jill’s decorous plagiarism unsettling, what could he possibly do about it? Both he and Jill are in fact pen names - or, if you prefer, altern ungekürzt. Language: English. The Ego Matter: About the Importance of Autonomy for Realizing Your True Self (Scholarly Articles, Vol. 7) is an extensive personal guide manual helping the listener to become aware of their unique soul values. The author came to call our unique power potential primary power or self-power at first, before he introduced the term soul power. The guide not only explains what soul power is, how it can be developed and strengthened, but also what stands in the way to developing it. The author explains that the main obstacle to developing soul power is parent-child codependence and emotional abuse, that the author sees as a form of addiction and which he calls symbiotoholism. After more than 20 years of research on emotional abuse, the author sees the primary etiology of parent-child emotional entanglement, and the fusional entanglement of people with groups and organizations in lacking tactile care of mothers for their infants, and later on, the refusal to grant adolescents a sufficient amount of autonomy to develop their psychosexual love map and gather emosexual experience. When we grasp the notion of autonomy, we see that all human growth has a destination - and that is why we say we have a destiny. The destination of youth is not to remain young, but to grow old. The destiny of a child is not to remain in childhood but to grow out of childhood. Building soul power requires to discover one’s self, to build a genuine identity. The author shows that building a genuine soul identity is done through discovering our innocence, realizing our primary power, developing our soul reality, accepting our marginality instead of striving for conformity, recovering and healing our inner child, discovering, and integrating our shadow, and our projections, and learning to see that a holographic image of the whole of mythology and human evolution is contained in our soul. ungekürzt. Three Essays on the Theory of Sexuality by Sigmund FreudThree Essays on the Theory of Sexuality (German: Drei Abhandlungen zur Sexualtheorie), sometimes titled Three Contributions to the Theory of Sex, is a 1905 work by Sigmund Freud, the founder of psychoanalysis, in which the author advances his theory of sexuality, in particular its relation to childhood.Freud's book covered three main areas: sexual perversions childhood sexuality and puberty. The Sexual AberrationsFreud began his first essay, on "The Sexual Aberrations", by distinguishing between the sexual object and the sexual aim - noting that deviations from the norm could occur with respect to both. The sexual object is therein defined as a desired object, and the sexual aim as what acts are desired with said object.Discussing the choice of children and animals as sex objects - pedophilia and bestiality - he notes that most people would prefer to limit these perversions to the insane "on aesthetic grounds" but that they exist in normal people also. He also explores deviations of sexual aims, as in the tendency to linger over preparatory sexual aspects such as looking and touching.Turning to neurotics, Freud emphasised that "in them tendencies to every kind of perversion can be shown to exist as unconscious forces...neurosis is, as it were, the negative of perversion". Freud also makes the point that people who are behaviorally abnormal are always sexually abnormal in his experience but that many people who are normal behaviorally otherwise are sexually abnormal also.Freud concluded that "a disposition to perversions is an original and universal disposition of the human sexual instinct and that...this postulated constitution, containing the germs of all the perversions, will only be demonstrable in children".Infantile SexualityHis second essay, on "Infantile Sexuality", argues that children have sexual urges, from which adult sexuality only gradually emerges via psychosexual development.Looking at children, Freud identified many forms of infantile sexual emotions, including thumb sucking, autoeroticism, and sibling rivalry. The Transformations of PubertyIn his third essay, "The Transformations of Puberty" Freud formalised the distinction between the 'fore-pleasures' of infantile sexuality and the 'end-pleasure' of sexual intercourse. He also demonstrated how the adolescent years consolidate sexual identity under the dominance of the genitals.
